Natural ways to ward off exhaustion caused by bronchitis?

I am getting over the nasty parts of bronchitis, but I am looking for natural healing ways to combat feeling so tired all the time. The last time I had this, I was exhausted for months afterwards. Any ideas? Thanks!

Answer 1:

Take LOTS of vitamin C - start with 2,000 milligrams and work up to the amount that gives you diarrhea. When that happens it's too much, so back off. I find that taking about 4,000 milligrams a day over each day gives me energy. Also B50 complex will help.

Answer 2:

sleep

Answer 3:

Margie is right mate ......... take the vitamin C in a powdered form containing the bioflavonoids (Hesperedin & Rutin which increase thepower of C) ....... take a teaspoon full dissolved in water or fruit juice 4 - 5 times daily or until bowel tolerance ....... when it gives you the runs simply reduce your intake by 25% until you find a level at which your body will function properly without fatigue ...... when you have recovered simply maintain your immunity by taking 1 teaspooon full of vitamin C powder dissolved in juice or water daily .... vitamin C has been shown to reduce inflammation and speed healing ..... it also has effective antihistamine properties.......... if you're taking lots of aspirin you're losing vitamin C........ cut right back on caffeine containing drinks such as coffee and tea and eliminate sodas and soft drinks and pop as they will all dehydrate you terribly and rob you of your precious water soluble supplies of vitamin C........... drink 8 glasses of water daily and hydrate yourself properly to help your body function at peak levels and eliminate the germs.

Ditch processed sugar as bacteria will literally feed and multiply on it.

Other things that will rob you of your precious supplies of vitamin C are stress, alcohol, aspirin and otc counter cold and flu meds, antiobiotics, sleeping tablets, laxatives and diuretics, the oral contraceptive and eostrogen supplementation (if you are female) and smoking.... Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin and as such our bodies can neither store or produce it and we need to ingest it on a daily basis.

eat more foods and their juices rich in vitamin C ie ~leafy and green vegies, citrus fruits such as lemons, limes and oranges, strawberries, blackberries and red and green peppers etc...

Vitamin C reduces inflammation, stimulates the immune system and restores the mucous lining of the gastrointestinal tract.......... In addition, vitamin C creates an environment in the digestive tract that helps control the overgrowth of yeast, bacteria and parasites.

Vitamin C deficiency can contribut to digestive problems, as well as bleeding gums, bloody noses, bloodshot eyes, increased susceptibility to infection, joint pain, unexplained bruising and lack of energy..... hmm, vitamin C the magical potion i reckon...........;0)

Taking a Bcomplex supplement will help you to recover from the stress of being ill and bolster a healthy immune, neural and digestive system ....... the B complex are a water soluble group of vitamins and when we are under stress or ill these are usually the first group of vitamins to be expended by the body ....... get one including all the B's ie ~ B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12 and folic acid etc... as they work best as a group.

Take a B complex daily even after you recover to help deal with the everyday dose of stress we are all exposed to at some level or another.

Blackmores do a good one......... remember, all vitamins aren't the same ...... some are seriously just bed pan bullets .... so get advice from the naturopath in your local health food store if you are unsure....... no use spending your hard earned money on low grade vitamins that can't be digested and thus useless.

peace baby

Can you get asthma from having bronchitis?

I have had asthma since the doctor gave me medicine for bronchitis. Could this medicine have created a dependence in my lungs? I never had any asthma symptoms before that.

Answer 1:

yes, it is a possibility. the dependency of your lungs on the medicine may make it harder to breath, see your doctor and talk to them about getting a breather

Answer 2:

yes

Answer 3:

NO, if you have asthma bronchitis can make it worse. If you have asthma for years you can have COPD, but bronchitis will not CAUSE asthma, it may experate it.

Answer 4:

I have always wondered about that and I have to say probably Yes. I use to get bronchitis in my 30's and now I have asthma in my 40's. As far as the medicine creating a dependency in your lungs probably not. Just take care of yourself. You might be more susceptible to pneumonia if you get bronchitis to much. I hope you don't smoke. Follow your Doctors orders and ALWAYS carry your Inhaler. You never know when you'll need it. It has saved my life time and time again. My Blessings to you.

Answer 5:

No my dear, asthma cannot be caused by any medicine dependence. If a normal person takes asthma medicine, the medicine will go waste. It will not cause dependence or asthma. asthma medication is not like marijuana or heroin that it may cause addiction or dependence.

How long do I give bronchitis to go away on its own?

It's common for my colds to head straight down to my lungs to have a party, which usually leaves me with a diagnosis of bronchitis. I know it can go away on its own, but I'm not sure how long I should give it before I go to my doctor. I really don't want to take antibiotics (side effects, risk of a yeast infection, etc), although I will if I have to. How long is too long to leave it?

Answer 1:

It can take many days, and there is a risk of developing other problems as well, do be careful. Pneumonia, pleurisy, and so forth, will only make things worse. For now, be sure you use good cold medicines to keep the symptoms under control, and that includes a good expectorant (to make your cough productive, as in the phlegm coming OUT). A humidifier can help, and maybe Vicks vapor rub as well. If you are not better in a week or less, see the doctor, or if you are getting worse.

Are Benadryl Allergy dissolving strips safe to use while having bronchitis?

On the box, it says to consult a doctor before use if you have chronic bronchitis. Okay- what if you have acute bronchitis, though? What will happen if you take it anyway?

Answer 1:

Absolutely, just double check with a pharmacist to make sure that your other meds don't contain any similar antihistamines.
