How to prevent snails from entering my fish tank?

I want to add live plants, but I want to make sure I take out any snails, or eggs on new plants I buy. Any suggestions on how to do this? Other than risking just doing it by hand and hoping I get all of the eggs.

Answer 1:

Aquatic plants can live out of water, in direct sunlight for about a day. You should try setting your plants outside in the sun for an hour, and all of the snails will die, along with their eggs. To play it safe... you can place the roots of the plants onto a wet sponge or a shallow dish of water to prevent stress to the fish.

Then rinse off the dead snails/eggs before you put it into your tank! It's a lot easier and less time consuming with less hazards than using some sort of snail repellent/insecticide.

Before putting the plants in the tank, you can put them in a container of water with a dose of had-a-snail (or similar product). Soak the plants in this for 24 hours, then rinse them off very well and add them to your tank.

How many mollies and guppies can I put in a 29 gallon Freshwater tank?

I am getting a 29 gallon freshwater tank. I would like to get some mollies and some guppies and I would like to breed the 2 types of fish (not together of course. Breed the mollies and breed the guppies). How many of each type of fish should I get and how do I breed them successfully?

6-8 mollies and 8-10 guppies at most. I don't know much about breeding mollies and guppies, but you should do some research on that.

Well lets c. Each inch of freshwater fish is a gallon for it. That rule is OK for small freshwater fish but if u decide to have bigger fish such as an angelfish, contact ur local fish store/pet shop. Next question, are u splliting the tank into 2? If ur buying 2 seperate tanks u will get more fish but if u divide it to 2 is fine. Because u can't seperate the sexes, u should keep at least 6 to 10 of the same fish in the tank. But if u put guppies in the tank, each guppie is an ich. which means that u can keep as much as the gallons u have! (ex. 25 gallons=25 guppies.) For the mollies, u should keep alot less because of it size. I think the most u can fit with 1 half of 29 gallons is u mollies. But for u itz ok because u can tell the sexes of the fishes. So 2 is good enough. After the breeding, u should go on fish sites for more instructions of putting the fishies in a tank.

How far before a wedding should you send out save the dates and invitations?

I am planning my wedding on my own and I just need to know how many months ahead should I send out save the date cards and also how many months ahead should I send out invitations?

Save the dates should be sent out anywhere from 4-5 months ahead of time...invitations and RSVPs should sent out about 2 months before hand and the RSVP deadline should be a month before so you can have the final count for your caterer.

you have to have your numbers booked in before your wedding so the catering company knows how much food to prepare, and so the place where you are having your reception know how many chairs and tables to lay out. my cousin is getting married on august 28th, she sent out her invitations at the start of june with an rspv of 1st july. so she gave the guests a month to make appropriate arrangements, and then she gave herself almost 2 months to get numbers together and stuff. i never got a save the date card, but i guess you can send them out 3 or 4 months in advanced.

3-4 months doesn't seem like enough time to me for wedding invites.
I'd say 6 months, you don't want to risk people misplacing it, but you want to make people aware so they could [hopefully] plan around.
Save the dates......hmmmm..... usually a year, 14 months in advance. I got over zealous and sent them a bit too early and ended up changing my wedding location [by changing, I mean moving it across country] so make sure you're 1000% on all the details before you send them!

Several months ahead for family...even six months or so...because of job concerns, etc...to be sure all can make that date....check it out first before you finalize the date.

Invitations are six to eight weeks ahead...at least six weeks with a response card inside for dinner reservations, if needed.

Also plan to have a wedding party calendar of dates made special for them with showers, fittings, deadlines to reserve tux's, etc....and the rehearsal times, etc....also the day of the wedding...times to be there for pictures, etc. Send reminder card a month or so ahead of the wedding, but give them all the dates ahead so they have them reserved. Also take into account any coming from out of town for the wedding ...arrange them so they can attend.
